Once again, the financial dealership that we partner with to get access to investments for our clients is going through a name change/re-branding exercise. We’ve been through these name changes many times in the past 20+ years, and just like in the past, this name change has very little effect on you, or how we look after your investments. Investia Financial Services Inc. (wholly owned by IA Financial Group) bought HollisWealth from Scotiabank back in August of 2017. Just like in previous acquisitions (see the chart below for the full history for Deb, Kelly & Gary) they chose to leave the HollisWealth trade name in place to provide some continuity for clients after the ownership change. Scotiabank chose the name HollisWealth many years ago as the first Bank of Nova Scotia branch was opened on Hollis Street in Halifax. With Investia now owing the dealership for the past four years, the name doesn’t have the same significance. They will retire the HollisWealth trade name this fall and move forward with just Investia.
After the ownership change at the dealership level four years ago, we (Deb, Kelly & Gary) wanted to create some name/branding consistency for our clients for the future, irrespective to any future name changes at the dealership level. As mentioned many times over the years, we are not employees of the financial dealership. We are independent business owners that are required to partner with a financial dealership to get access to investments for our clients. We created our own trade name of Lifeview Financial in 2017 which represents the team of Deb, Kelly, Gary & James that directly looks after your investment needs. We have no control over what business or regulatory decisions may drive future changes at the dealership level. What we do have control over is our own trade name of Lifeview Financial, and we’ll keep that in place for as long as possible into the future.
We are aware that so many ownership/name changes over the years can be very unnerving for our clients. Having said that, the constant in all this change has been Kelly, Gary and Deb. We’ve navigated those changes with a focus on minimizing the impact to our clients, and to ensure that any changes at the dealership level don’t adversely affect our ability to look after our clients.
In the coming weeks, we will once again be making some small changes to our letterhead, email signatures, email addresses, and signage at our office locations. The HollisWealth name will be replaced with Investia Financial Services and Lifeview Financial. On communications you receive directly from our office, you will see both logos. On any communication from our dealership’s head office, you will only see the Investia logo.
So how do we answer the question “What’s in a name”? We spent a lot of time and effort creating the Lifeview Financial name and website, and we feel that name encompasses how we help our clients every single day. It’s your life! We build long-term relationships with you, looking at your life and goals from different perspectives. We take a holistic approach to implementing strategies that are appropriate for you through the various stages of your life. Hence our motto: Different perspectives....one life view. Lifeview Financial is meant to revolve around our clients’ lives – where they are, where they want to go, and our view on how best to get there together. As always, we strive to provide our clients with exceptional service, and to go above and beyond when and where we can.
We hope this clarifies the retirement of the HollisWealth name, and the implementation of the Lifeview Financial and Invesia Financial Services names moving forward. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please just reach out to us and we’ll be happy to speak with you.
Health, Happiness & Sucess!

Abigail Castellucci won first place with her essay entry. She is attending Humber College in their Design Foundation Program. This year (as we did last year as well), we asked our entrants to tell us how the global pandemic has affected their lives and their choices for their futures.
Abigail commented throughout her essay on this:
“It is no secret that over the past year and a half, the world has faced unprecedented struggles due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The effects of the pandemic have in one way or another left its mark on all of us. For me personally, the pandemic has made me realize that sometimes the things that we deem as important, really don’t matter as much as we once believed…. If the pandemic has taught me anything, it is that your friends and family are of utmost importance. Covid-19 has also made me realize how much I miss simple luxuries. These include attending school in a classroom of students or walking into a grocery store without waiting in a lineup. I’ve realized that as much as we miss the big things in life - such as going out to fancy restaurants, or going on vacations; it’s the little things in life that really matter. Covid-19 has been an enormous wakeup call that self-preservation is of utmost importance. This pandemic has pushed our mental health to the limits.”

Maxwell (Max) Ellis was our second-place winner this year. His parents took him to Waterloo recently to begin his University adventure. As an only child, Max commented to us that he ‘was looking forward to everything’!! Max is enthusiastic about his chosen program – Astronomy and Physics.
An exerpt from Max’s essay follows: “I have several aspirations; a professor of astrophysics, a more research-based career, and contributing to the science community and pushing our knowledge beyond what it is now. Another huge goal for me is to have the opportunity to name a celestial object, like a planet or star. That said, I think that my number one, top choice would be a professor of astrophysics at Waterloo. I’d love to have this as my career because it would give me the opportunity to continue and conduct my own research, and it would also let me teach other people with the same interests and aspirations that I have, and strengthen their knowledge, the same as I will in the next few years.”
